ADAPTOGENS: the wonder herbs, what are they?

Adaptogens are natural, plant-based metabolic regulators that aid the body in adapting to the many stressors around us. Stressors that can include chemicals, physical activity, the environment, and even our own physiological interactions.

Adaptogens are said to increase physical and mental resilience while decreasing fatigue and wear on the body.

With the demanding and on the go lifestyles that most of us face, could adaptogens be the answer? Many seem to think so.

There is a wide array of adaptogens that are said to be able to work all kinds of wonders.

There has not been a lot of research done involving humans but there has been a lot of successful research done involving animals, which has led many to believe that these little plants could lead to big success for humans as well.

It seems to be widely accepted in the medical realm that one should consult their physician before diving into the world of adaptogens just to be sure that there will not be any negative interactions with any medication that is already being taken. It would be smart to start small and slow to see how the body reacts and stop anything that doesn’t feel right.

There are many ways to take/consume adaptogens, a few are:

Tinctures (a concentrated liquid extract that is usually very potent)

            Capsules

            Powders

I would like to disclose that I have not really experimented with the world of natural care. I have heard a lot of success stories though which led me to dig deeper and find some answers. I honestly did not know much about adaptogens in the beginning and I still am not sure that I know as much as I would like to.

I hope that maybe the information that I have shared can help others that are in the same boat as me and can act as a stepping stone into more exploration. I would love more input and information from others that have it and would like to share!
